Power Glove (Not the bizarre controler, the band)

I'm a huge fan of Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. Seriously, I loved every freaking second of it. But I'm not gonna talk about the gameplay or the graphics, I'm gonna talk about its soundtrack. It was provided by a modest band called (you guessed it) Power Glove. Strange object to pay an homage to, but anyway... these guys nailed it! Pretty hard, I must say. Not only they did what they do best, but actually they got better doing it.
So, after the soundtrack of the game, I went to check a little bit about them.  And boy, what a treat it is. Really moody music, one can really imagine cyberpunk classics simply by listening to their music.

Be sure to check it out, folks!

Now, I found out there's a metal band named PowerGlove (without spaces). They're not half bad either.

Total Recall (1990)

Ah, another Shwarzenegger movie... Yeps, I'm a fan of the guy. This movie was one of my favourite as a kid, and honestly, it still is (maybe due to the nostalgia, but I digress). I mean, it has all the ingredients to a classic movie:

- An interesting plot
- Cheesy sci-fi
- Retro-futurism
-  Action
- A hot babe (two of them, since it not only has Sharon Stone but Rachel Ticotin as well)
- Extra cheesy one-lines (this IS Shwarzenegger, after all)
- MUTHAFUQIN' SHWARZENEGGER!!
Besides, how could you forget to mention the three-breasted lady?
Anyway, this movie certainly fits into the cyberpunk category. I'm sure you already seen it, but if you haven't, be sure to.

Shibuya, Japan

I never get tired of seeing pictures of Shibuya, in Tokyo. As William Gibson (author of Neuromancer, we'll talk about it later) himself said : "Modern Japan simply was cyberpunk"; and let me tell you.. damn right it was. One can easily associate a picture of Japan to Blade Runner, or Akira. Check it out and get your own conclusions:

Bring it back with "Bringing it back"

Still from Master Shortie's "Bringing It Back" music video. I didn't know this guy, but it's probably the best video music ever (at least for the retro-future afictionados out there). Be sure to check it out.

Kraftwerk

Aah, the grandfathers of electronic music based in virtual reality. Kraftwerk not only were pioneers in their own musical genre, they also created the perfect ambient. If it weren't for these guys, there wouldn't be no Jean-Michel Jarre nor Daft Punk. Be sure to check them out (if you haven't already)

Terminator

It seems Shwarzenegger went to a lot of cyberpunk movies, back then. Which is cool, since you know, it's Shwarzenegger. Besides...

                                          "I'll be back!"

Now, enter Terminator.
I prefered the Terminator 2: Judgement Day, as a kid. Because explosions! Oh, and I had nightmares back then with the part when T-1000 falls into the "lava pit" and starts morphing into every character he had morphed earlier. Scary shit, folks!
As far as the plot goes, I think the first terminator movie takes the cake. I suggest you to check both of them out.

We miss KITT

This is probably the most awesome car ever to exist, fictional or not.
We miss this TV Series, for sure.

NeoCity

I live among the creatures of the night
I haven't got the will to try and fight
Against a new tomorrow, so I guess I'll just believe it
That tomorrow never comes

Retro future at its finest.

The future as (you wish) you never saw

This blog is dedicated to my guilty pleasure: the cheesy, gritty, vision of the future.. of the past.
